The Notwithstanding Clause: A Classroom Debate Lesson Plan

Students will research and debate the use of the notwithstanding clause in the Canadian charter. Students will support or criticize the use of the notwithstanding clause to allow federal or provincial governments to pass a law that violates the freedoms and rights in the Charter under certain conditions.
