Students will investigate the influence that the media and lobby groups have on our government’s decision making. Using recent case studies, such as the Friends of CBC to increase funding or Greenpeace to promote environmental issues or lobbying by the tobacco industry, students will research news media to gather information. They will then decide the degree of responsibility a particular group has for influencing a government decision and back this decision up with evidence.
