Mediation

This activity helps students understand what mediation is by having them engage in the actual process. Students work in groups and follow a step-by-step mediation outline to resolve a conflict. By the end of the lesson students should be able to analyze the value of mediation as a means of dispute resolution and the situations in which it may be best applied.

The resource includes: a description of what mediation is and what circumstances it is used in, a skit to exemplify what the mediation process looks like, conflicts for students to discuss and work out in groups, a suggested rubric for assessment, as well as extension activities and additional online resources.
