Builidng Future Voters is a free teacher resource from Elections Alberta that teaches students about citizen participation, elections and democracy. Each lesson is directly linked to the Alberta social studies curriculum and provides for use of the inquiry process. There is a different resource available for grades 6, 9 and 12.
You can request directly from Elections Alberta a returning officer to come and talk to students about the election and voting process. Also available free of charge is an election simulator which guides the students through the process of starting a political party through to voting for the government.
Building Future Voters is available through Elections Alberta or directly from the Learning Resource Centre, Alberta Education.
