Awarding Certificates of Merit

This teacher directed lesson begins with students having a clear understanding of the word accountability. A specific scenario has been chosen but a different one unique to your community would also work to help students determine criteria to show accountability. After discussing and analyzing whether or not the elected officials have followed their promise, students are asked to create a certificate of merit to present to the politician. Specific criteria is provided for the certificate creation.
